Locktober is a sacred month in the world of chastity, a male chastity challenge of sorts.  It's a month where we lock that cock up securely in a chastity cage and pledge to stay locked for an entire month.  Not only do we make this promise to ourselves and our key holders, but even the broader community as everyone in a sense is in it together.

What Is Locktober?

It's relatively simple, and outstandingly consistent.  31 days locked and 31 days without orgasm.  In October of each year, a slave, sub, or simply chaste boyfriend will lock themselves or be locked into a chastity cage for the ensuing 31 days.

Within that month they will no be released, nor will they be granted orgasm until they have completed the full 31 day lockdown. It is a challenge of the highest order and can be taken on individually or in a couple.  

When taking on October by yourself, you will need to tap into some serious discipline.  With nobody there to encourage you personally, or to enforce your lockup, it might be worthwhile putting your key somewhere out of reach or in a timed lock box for the duration.

When Did Locktober Start?

Locktober started a little over 10 years ago with the term circulating around Google as far back as October 2012.  Perhaps no more than a passing comment, It then peaked notably in 2015 starting a trend where it grew consistently year after year suggesting that this was the point where Locktober reached critical mass and became a broader theme within the community.

If we look back to forum and blogging websites from the time, there are occasional mentions of it within BDSM forums in 2015 where the term was bounced around.  Meanwhile over on Tumblr, there is also mention of it dating back to 2015.  Roll forward 9 years and the term has made it into large alt lifestyle magazines and is at the very least a term recognised by the mass majority of people who have practiced chastity.

Looking ahead, given the upward trajectory of Locktober, it's not inconceivable that the concept could break through from the BDSM community into the wider culture in the not too distant future. Maybe some day we'll see a Locktober advert on the TV!

Rules For Locktober 

We have different schools of thought regarding Locktober typically revolving around how strict the caging should be throughout the month.  We think a balanced approach is best so here are our unified rules for Locktober for 2024 and beyond.

1) The Goal

Your goal is to remain caged and without full orgasm for the 31 days of October.  It's rather simple in terms of the core objective. 

2) Choose Your Chastity Cage

Comfort will be key during Locktober.  If you are used to long-term wear then this will likely not be of great concern to you.  However if you aren't used for wearing your cage for extended periods of time, this can be challenging so be sure to select a cage which is comfortable when locked. 

If you are considering purchasing a cage specifically for Locktober,  remember to order in plenty of time so your cage has time to arrive and you have time to test it and get used to wearing it.  Don't make October 1st an unknown, know what to expect.

3) Cage Time

It helps to note down all your rules for clarity with yourself, and should you be playing with someone else, for them too.

You will list out whether you are to remain locked 24/7 or only in the home.  You will make provisions for hygiene, does your cage allow you to clean whilst wearing it or is it enclosed and requires removal.  If you have provisions for removal then will it be monitored by a partner.
